Elder Kevin Childs
Elder Kevin Childs is the pastor and founder of Greater Love Mission Church of God in Christ. He was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and received his High School education at Dayton Christian High School. He moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he received his college education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He later moved to Houston and continued his religious education at the College of Biblical Studies.
He married Lisa Childs on April 1st, 1982, and they have two children. Kevin Jr. and Latasha and 1 granddaughter Kinsley and 1 grandson Kayson.
Pastor Childs worked in the secular field for the City of Houston for 23 years and Luby’s Cafeteria for 9 years before retiring and working full time in pastoral ministry.
He is currently a member of the Texas South Central Church of God in Christ. He has served the church in various capacities on the State and local levels. Some of his previous positions were State Pastoral Care Coordinator, Dean of the Ordination Board, Chairman of the Pastors and Elders Council and Chairman of the Superintendents Board. He currently serves the Texas South Central Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ as Administrative Assistant to General Board Member Bishop P.E. Bryant Sr. He is the District Superintendent of the Greater Houston District and a member of the Board of Directors. Pastor Kevin Childs considers himself to be a preacher/ teacher who loves to expound the word of God. Pastor Childs believes it is his call in life to share the wonderful love of Christ to men, women, boys, and girls everywhere.
First Lady Lisa Childs
Lisa Childs is the First Lady of Greater Love Mission Church of God in Christ. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN. She was a member of Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop J.O. Patterson Sr. She received her high school education from Overton High school. She attended college at Shelby State College in Memphis TN. Chattanooga State Technical College and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
She married Pastor Kevin Childs on April 1st, 1982, and they have two children. Kevin Jr. and Latasha and 1 granddaughter Kinsley and 1 grandson Kayson.
Lisa worked for Harris County for 20 years and retired as Retirement Coordinator. Helping employees prepare for life after employment.
Lisa has worked very closely in the ministry of Greater Love Mission and is an integral part of its mission. She enjoys working behind the scenes in the technological part of the ministry. She has served as Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, and Prayer Warrior. She currently serves as the President of the Women’s Dept. and Outreach Mission Coordinator Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:15 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
